video (mostly close-ups), bargain bin detritus, text,
loosely scripted performance, and inauthentic voices,
Serena Lee's art practice is driven by an unwieldy,
exuberant fascination with musical form as a grammar for
the political. She has shared works in North America,
Southern China, and Europe, in film festivals, storage
closets, and a condemned office building. Serena
graduated from the MFA programme at the Piet Zwart
Institute, and previously studied at the Ontario College
of Art and Design in Canada, and TAMK Taide &
Viestintä, in Finland, and holds associate
certification from Canada's Royal Conservatory of Music
in piano performance. Originally from Toronto, Serena is
currently based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, where she
is working on sci-fi through counterpoint. |
